Show Notes for Wednesday, March 26th...

Mother’s Day is still a few weeks away, but if you’re looking to make this year special for your Mom or any Mom you love, then maybe you should enter her into the America’s Favorite Mom contest. The grand prize is $25,000! There’s even a chance to appear on the Today Show.

If you’re a Netflix subscriber, then you probably dealt with the inability to get on their site Monday. Some sort of technical glitch brought down the site for much of the day. Netflix says that on Tuesday, they not only shipped what they normally would’ve, but also everything that should’ve gone out on Monday. If you were affected by the delay, there’s good news. Netflix say they may credit your account.

A 17-year-old girl in a coma after a car accident five months ago is getting a little help from actor Johnny Depp. Her parents have been desperate to find the key to wake her up, so they wrote Depp and asked him to record a message for her in the voice of her favorite character; Captain Jack Sparrow. Just this week she moved her right leg, something she’s never done before. Depp was so touched by their letter he committed himself to doing anything he could to help.

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan is putting her support behind John McCain. She says it’s normally her custom to wait until after the Republican National Convention to announce her support of a particular candidate, but it’s clear, she says, that the party has chosen its nominee. She believes his record and experience have prepared him well to be our next president.

If you’re thinking of starting a family or maybe you already have, it’s always a good idea to prepare yourself financially. A new report says raising a baby born last year until his or her 18th birthday will take just over $200-thousand dollars. The costs of child care and education are a bigger piece of that pie than in the past. The cost of providing food actually went down. The single biggest cost though is housing. It makes up a third of the total expenses. It’s probably no surprise too that they get more expensive as they get older.

American Idol contestant Kristie Lee Cook, who has been on the elimination bubble the last few weeks, surprised a lot of people last night with her performance. Choosing “God Bless The USA” may prove to be her savviest move yet. She got across the board approval from the judges for the first time in forever. Arguably the best performance of the night though was David Cook singing Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean.” Chikezie and Ramiele Malubay could be in trouble tonight.

Thursday on the Family Name Game we'll call out the name Ashley. If you're the immediate family member (mom , dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife) of Ashley, listen then for your chance to make her the STAR of the show. KNOW a family with a Ashley. Don't just sit there - call them NOW so they can play! If you want to suggest a name, just send it to jeffandstace@aol.com.
