It's almost as if time stood still yesterday. It must have. Afterall, there seems to be no blog post for Thursday, April 17th. Actually, it seems the "crud" is making the rounds here at the radio station. Jeff was out sick yesterday (he normally updates the blog). Stace is out sick today. Truth is, if there was anyone else who could step in, both Jeff and Stace would be staying home today. But the show must go on!
Because of some technical difficulties yesterday with the phones, there was no Family Name Game which means Olivia (yesterday's intended name) is the name today. You know what to do.
Fritz (Jeff and Annie's Dachshund) is a talented little guy. Last week, he began his own blog! You'll find it at TheCelebrityPup.com! Fritz says he plans to use his new-found interest to give pets and humans alike his "unique insights into the world." You've heard of dogs that talk? Well, this one can type!
Okay, we all get stressed out right? Dr. Lynne Tan, psychiatrist at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, and some stars share their tips to "chill-out."
- Write things out -- Writing your thoughts channels energy from something negative into something positive. Jessica Simpson says she goes through a journal every 5 months.
- Pamper yourself -- Take care of yourself! Go get a massage! Hilary Swank says, "I love to relax with a pedicure!"
- Change your focus -- Go to a museum, read a book, focus on what makes you happy!
- Calm down girl -- Take a tip from Oprah... she says when things get chaotic she heads straight for a bubble-bath. The crazier things are on the outside... the calmer she needs to be on the inside.
- Hit the gym -- Working out is just plain good for you -- body and soul! Eva Longoria says she's been working out for a long time and feels great!
- Get back to nature -- Christina Applegate says she sets aside at least 20 minutes in the sun every day.
In just a couple of weeks the government will begin mailing out those tax rebate checks. And if you’re like most people, there isn’t a flat-screen TV or a vacation in your future. Of course the federal government would prefer you spend it, but chances are you plan to maybe pay off debts, pad your gas budget, replace an old appliance or beef up your savings for a rainy day.
So she didn’t win American Idol, but Kristy Lee Cook has won the heart of Andy Dobner. The two are now engaged. He first proposed on March 15th, but Kristy says she wanted to keep it quiet so she could focus on Idol. But Andy surprised her with a very public proposal when he popped the question on TV on American Idol Extra yesterday. She said he “actually got down on his knees this time. The first time he didn’t so he owed it to me,” she said.
An earthquake was felt this morning in an area not used to having them. People in St. Louis, Louisville, Bowling Green, Indianapolis and Nashville are all reporting having felt tremors. There’ve been no reports of damage other than pictures falling off walls. Tremors lasted about a minute. It registered 4.5 and was centered near West Salem, Illinois. Crews are out this morning checking for structural damage.
Being in the dog house isn’t so bad if it’s a dog house from a company called La Petite Maison (French for “the little mansion”). Animal lovers with cash to spare are spoiling their dogs with their own mini-mansions. Usually, they’re modeled after your own home. Most of them sell for between $6,000 and $25,000 and can be equipped with air-conditioning and other features. You won't believe some of these. Click the link below to see photos.
The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded has passed $3.40 and prices are expected to climb toward $4 a gallon as the summer driving season nears. If you’re like most people, you’ve already cut back a little bit. Now you may have to cut back some more. Regardless of where prices peak, experts think July and August will be very busy.
Believe it or not, a new study has just come out with a very surprising finding. MEN ARE MORE FORGETFUL THAN WOMEN! They found as men get older, they are one-and-a-half times more likely to develop memory problems.
If you're hoping to catch a flick this weekend and need some help making up your mind, then check out the Plugged-In Movie Review from Focus on the Family. They use a "family-friendliness" ratings system to help you determine if what you're thinking about seeing is appropriate for the whole family.
Monday on the Family Name Game we'll call out the name Michael. If you're the immediate family member (mom , dad, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband or wife) of Michael, listen then for your chance to make her the STAR of the show. KNOW a family with a Michael. Don't just sit there - call them NOW so they can play! If you want to suggest a name, just send it to jeffandstace@aol.com.

hello! this is really late, but a few days (or maybe weeks :-/) ago, Stace was talking about the rice game on the show. The game that contributes a grain of rice for every word you get correct or something? Well, I may have just missed the link or something, but could you point me in the right direction?

Hiya Jeff and Stace --
Hope this morning finds you both well. Let me start off by saying how very much I enjoy your morning program!! You all bring a smile to my face every time I listen!!
I wanted to try and contact you and let you in on something I have found that has rocked my world in a major way. It's called SPARK! It's a nutritionally based energy drink that makes me stop yawning every time I use it. It also has helped my friend go from a size 8 to a 2 in less than 3 months! Anyway I don't want to sound like a commercial but I thought about you, having to be up so early every morning!! I know how tired I am every morning just getting up and getting my kiddos off to school. Just imagine -- NO coffee needed!!! No sugar either! Only the smallest bit of caffeine just to make the vitamins move from one part of your brain to another more quickly! Michael W. Smith is one of our UNPAID endorsers!! He says he loads up his entire tour bus with Advocare products because they are so good and work so well.
Anyway...I don't want to bug you but I thought about you as a fellow believer, who also has "early morning hours" and may be interested in staying more alert in a healthy way!! If you at all interested you can call me at 615-217-4829 or heathhome@comcast.net or just check out the website for yourself www.advocare.com\08024970. Thanks for taking the time to read this and know that I just wanted to share this out of a heart of love for you all. Thanks for making me smile every morning!
In His Name,
Courtney Heath
