It’s just keeps getting worse at the airport. After canceling nearly 500 flights yesterday, American Airlines plans to cancel than a thousand today, all to fix faulty wiring. It’s the third straight day of mass cancellations. They’re apologizing profusely as you might imagine and offering travel vouchers to calm angry customers. The flights canceled total about 2,400 since Tuesday, or about one in three flights.

Just this past weekend, Fritz (Jeff and Annie's Dachshund) actually decided to begin his own blog. You'll find it at TheCelebrityPup.com! Fritz says he plans to use his new-found interest to give pets and humans alike his "unique insights into the world." No word yet on how he's actually managing to type, or if he's simply dictating his posts to mom and dad.
A new study out of Yale University says weight discrimination is on the rise. They say that perceived discrimination against overweight people has gone up 5% in the last 10 years. They also say the study shows the need for stricter legal remedies to protect the overweight population. Chances are, economically, you’re feeling the “pinch” right now. More and more of us who consider ourselves middle-class Americans are beginning to feel our standard of living has diminished.

One-third say they’ve actually gone backwards and about a quarter say they’re just treading water. Eight in ten middle-class Americans say it is now harder to maintain their standard of living than just a few years ago when wages peaked in 1999.

If you have trouble spelling common words, you might be able to blame technology. A new survey at least says a lot of us struggle with that and blame our gadgets. Many in the survey struggled to spell words like “calendar,” “embarrass,” and “questionnaire.” Despite the struggles, nearly a third claimed their spelling was excellent and almost half considered their spelling at least good. From predictive spelling cell phones and text abbreviations, not to mention computer spell-checkers, we don’t have to think about it as much as we used to.
