O Christmas Tree...

Tree_2_2 I love to decorate for Christmas…I enjoy it so much my tree usually goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving. It must be something about the cold weather, hot chocolate and a cozy blanket that gets me in the Christmas mood. My entire house gets transformed each year into a winter wonderland.

I was talking with the ladies in the office about Christmas Trees and we talked about being a real tree or artificial tree person. I have always had an artificial tree. I can remember one year when I was growing up that we had a real tree….not sure why we did something different that year…but I do remember the mess that tree made and how hard it was to put ornaments on the tree and how you had to pick just the right branch for each ornament because the heavy ornaments would not stay on any branch.

I still have my first Christmas tree…my college roommate andTree_close_2 I went in together on it when we had our first apartment together and when we moved out I paid for her half and took the tree with me. It has had the same theme for all these years…I’ve thought of changing it but I’m not sure what I would Angel_2_4change it too…so I found a way to update it without a lot of cost…the after Christmas sales really help. I have always had blue lights on my tree…If I remember right my Great Grandparents used to have blue lights on their tree…one year I added the white lights with the blue to brighten the tree up a bit…the next year I added the snow flakes to add some sparkle and most recently the icicles were added…so I have a blue, silver and white snowflake theme going on and that is theme in my entire house with the cute snowmen stuff I have in various places.

Let's All Go For A Snake Ride! Yeeeeehaaaaawww!

Boy_on_snake_2 Sure, Jennifer's snake (see below) is all big and scary and stuff...  But it all comes down to how you look at things.  It can either be 'quick, run!!!' or 'quick, get on!'

Young Sambath says he loves it as much as his sister.  My sister couldn't carry me very far... nor was she a reptile.

SNAKE!!!!

Snake_jenI finally have proof!!!! A few months back when I was walking my dog I had my first snake encounter in Colorado but I didn't have my phone with me to take a picture BUT yesterday when I was walking my dog...I had my camera phone and...in the same spot...I ran into this snake. Yikes!!! This time it was a totally different color and even a little bit bigger. So I finally have proof...thankfully my dog did not see this snake even though he almost walked right into him. I had no idea snakes would still be out this time of year...doesn't it get to cold for them at some point. This one was moving really slow...but look at the size of this thing...that is not even his entire body...more of him is down in a hole in the ground. I had no idea when I moved to Colorado that I would have this many snake encounters. YIKES!!!

Snowboarding...

I don't wanna die!!! Snowboarding looks like fun but after my friendDsc_0626_2 Michelle went last weekend and came back with knees looking like this....I'm not so sure I'm ready to give it a try just yet.  I grew up water skiing...so I can handle the water but Snowboarding is a totally different story. The only snow skiing I have ever done was years ago in Missouri so the Colorado Mountains are intimidating to me. Since I'm tall doesn't that just mean I have a longer fall? :-)

Michelle_is_a_dorkIf you have any tips for the best place for a rookie like me to give this a try let me know...I need a good teacher first! One good thing…my friend Michelle said that it was a lot of fun…so maybe it is worth the bruises….maybe

Building_429_lead_singer At first, it was 'hey. is that bee a part of the band?'  Then it was, 'hey, that's the lead singer of Building 429--and he's singing our favorite song!!'

Here's Jason Roy of Building 429 singing 'Glory Defined.'
