Veig and Jennifer Soon To Be 'Veig-less'

Veig_starbucks Well, it happened.  That point at which you realize God is moving you on to something else.  Except I only know the first part... that God is moving me on.  Friday, May 23rd will be my last day.  God has given me the privilege of taking some time off to evaluate what He has next, which should help me with the 'something else' part.  I can't thank you enough for listening, playing along and being so encouraging.  My mornings will never be the same... here, take my last Starbucks...

The NEW...five dollar bill

Gallon_of_gas_2

We are all feeling the pain at the pump and now thankfully we have a solution a special $5 to help you with your gallon of gas. Okay so right now we don't pay $5 per gallon....YET....but just about.

Maybe it is just me but shouldn't a gallon of gas cost less than my Tall Chi Tea Latte at Starbucks?

Feeling the pain with you...

You Put Your Toothbrush, Where?!

080325toothbrushvmed3pwidec msnbc.com has an article about The 16 Worst Place to Stash Your StuffI'm sure they're just trying to help...  but this list is like living an episode of Monk!  One germ guru says of our toothbrush storage that "unless you like rinsing with toilet water, keep your toothbrush behind closed doors — in the medicine cabinet or a nearby cupboard."   Or to be safe, you could always start brushing outside.

Spring Fever

Spring_2Spring Fever is defined as:  A feeling of restlessness, excitement, or laziness brought on by the coming of spring.

Today is the first official day of Spring. Do you have the fever? I have had the fever for about a week or more...every time we get one really nice day and then the next day snow. It is like we are getting a tease of how great Spring is going to be this year.

I'm new to the changing of seasons in Colorado because I grew up in the Midwest. One of my favorite things about Spring is the new life that begins. You know the flowers that begin to show signs of life and the grass that starts to turn green again. Fresh cut grass it the best smell ever...it means that it is time again to drive around with the windows down and enjoy the fresh air.

What is your favorite thing about Spring? Is it a smell? A feeling? Something you do every year?

Veig makes a Starbucks run

Is your name easy to spell?

Birth_certif_texting_4 Thankfully I have an easy name to spell...you can't mess up Jennifer. If you have a name that has a unique spelling I'm sure you get tired of telling people how to spell it and sometimes even how to say your name. Some days you may have even wished you had a different name.

My name is simple and common and at times I did wish it was different. Like my freshman year in college when 8 girls on my dorm room floor all had the same first and middle name....yep...not fun...that entire first year of college I was known by my last name.

The latest study is now saying that the reason we see such a wide range in spellings in a few popular names is due in large part to the fact that we spend so much time texting.  One analyst was even quoted as saying that "the use of a 'y' instead of an 'i' has hit epidemic proportions, as has the use of 'k' over 'c'." Realistically, we're not about to believe the SMS craze is actually affecting children's names en masse, but please, don't our names need the vowels they deserve.

Jnnfr :-)
[how would you even say that?]

Very Creative!

Spin_2

I'm not a big fan of getting forwards but I just had to share some of the images from the forward I got today. The creativity is amazing!

Jaws

Talk about a bad day...getting eaten by a shark on the bus ride to work...would that be considered a sick day or a personal day? hmm

If that isn't enough...now for something that might make you think of Veig or at the very least all of your coffee drinking "friends"...

Will Work For Food....

Work_for_food_2 It is rare to go one week without seeing the words "Will Work For Food" scratched on a piece of cardboard or to drive past someone that is carrying all they own on their back....

I have been challenged lately to be more aware of my surroundings and to pay attention to the opportunities we have each day to make a difference. You know to do things for other people without an agenda...not expecting anything in return but to be human and treat another human with respect and kindness.

As I have been challenged to be more aware of my surroundings and opportunities to get involved…things have starting happening around me….or maybe I actually took notice of them for the first time. A couple weeks ago I had just left the grocery store and noticed a man with a “will work for food” sign at the end of the parking lot. The moment I noticed him…so many things went through my head…I should do something….I have a lot to do today….I need to get home…I have so much to get done today…I’m tired....I think I have $2 cash with me and that isn’t going to do much to help…..and on and on. So I drove by and did nothing. That moment stuck with me…it made me sad to think that I didn’t try to do something even something small.

Yesterday as I was pulling into the grocery store parking lot I noticed on the other side of the parking lot - three people standing on the corner with a sign “will work for food” and in that moment I knew that I had to do something this time…but once again I only had a couple dollars in cash with me so I decided that I would pick up a few extra things for them when I got my stuff. I went about my grocery shopping and had fun picking out some sandwich stuff, water and other snacks for them. Unfortunately I took to long in the store…so by the time I got back outside and had my bag of food ready for them they had already left. I was bummed… I drove around the block to try and find them…but they were gone. It's often said...it's the thought that counts but I don't feel like what I did counted much at all.

Crocs Rock!

Jr_crocs_3 Okay Crocs fans....I FINALLY tried them on today! Yes - my name is Jennifer and I have never put a pair of Crocs on my feet before...that is until today.

Crocs_2Thanks to Lyn and her Crocs contact for my Dale Jr Crocs!!! That is the great thing...if I'm going to try them on I might as well go all out with my favorite NASCAR driver. I was very surprised with how great they feel.

Jelly_shoesTo me Crocs always looked like they would be super uncomfortable...like the plastic jelly shoes I had as a kid that left little ring marks on your feet and made your feet smell bad. So I was very surprised that the Crocs are so comfy - I have house slippers that don't feel this great!
