I don't like Peeps...

Peeps I'm not a big fan of peeps...I was the kid that would trade peeps with a friend at school for something else - like chocolate! Which always made the other kid happy because they were usually a big fan of peeps and could not get enough of them.

Aipeeps_2 The only time I enjoyed peeps was the time a friend of mine showed me how to make them "grow" in the microwave.  Today I found some people that took the use of peeps to an entirely new level.

The Seattle Times had a competition that challenged their readers to turn peeps into pieces of pop culture. The results are hilarious and very creative! One of my favorites has to be the American Idol Judges. I love how they even have Simon in a grey shirt...because we all know Simon only wears grey or black.

Hannah_peeptana_live_3 Another favorite of mine was the "Hannah Peeptana Live" that two little girls ages 7 and 9 created. I can only imagine how long it must have taken them to setup all the peeps in the crowd.

I'm not sure if the people that created the peep art enjoy eating them or not but it is fun to see all the other possible uses of the nasty tasting peeps.

Too much of a good thing....

Girl_scout_cookies_2_2Too much of a good thing...that is right I'm talking about Girl Scout cookies. In particular I'm talking about my favs Tagalongs!

Yesterday I was not sure what I wanted to make for dinner so I decided to have a little snack...so I went to my freezer and got out a box of Girl Scout Cookies and then of course a big glass of milk...before I knew it half the box was gone. Yep! I said half of the box...just me....now my dog did work very hard at trying to get me to give him a bite but that was not going to happen. Besides chocolate is bad for dogs and good for humans - right!

Well not only did I spoil my dinner last night but I woke upGirl_scout_cookies this morning with a terrible stomach ache...my only logical thought was...I should not have eaten half a box of Girl Scout cookies all at once. Moms are so right when they tell us "not to spoil our dinner" and "don't eat to much that will give you a tummy ache". Too much of a good thing...can make you feel not so good the next day...so have a Girl Scout cookie for me today because my tummy needs a break. :-)

TOP 10 TIPS TO AVOID PACKING ON HOLIDAY POUNDS

Turkey_3 Packing on pounds is easy to do during the holidays. So here are 10 suggestions to help you keep the weight off from nutrition and health expert Dr. James D. Krystosik:

  1. Get plenty of sleep. Being tired often triggers eating pangs.
  2. Drink plenty of water. If you don't take in liquid, the body retains it, increasing body weight by 10 to 15 pounds.
  3. Curb appetite by loading up on "good carbs" - high fiber veggies like beans, whole grains such as oats and brown rice and fruits.
  4. Limit your intake of proteins.
  5. Keep stress levels down by walking, exercising and meditation. Stress can spark the appetite.
  6. Avoid "bad carbs" like high-starch potatoes, breads and desserts.
  7. Vinegar reduces the body's absorption of "bad carbs" so use a variety of vinegar with olive oil for salad dressings.
  8. Stay away from foods with hydrogenated oils and the sweetener aspartame. These substances do not aid in weight loss.
  9. Choose foods with "good fats" like soy beans, avocado, nuts and seeds, fish like salmon, tuna and halibut and leafy green veggies.
  10. Keep in touch with a pal who has similar diet and health goals to boost your willpower during the holiday food feast
